Communicate-ed review DRA

Attractively presented test, quick and easy to administer, and offering scores for reading speed and comprehension processing speed, which so few tests cover.

How does the new edition differ from the previous edition?

The third edition provides single standardised scores (previously, scores were provided in ranges), making it more useful for access arrangements evidence in Part 2 of Form 8.  The third edition also includes a single word reading accuracy test in two parallel forms.

Suggestions for use with Assessments for Access Arrangements

  • A standard score in the below average range (below 85) for comprehension processing speed could be used as core evidence in a request for extra time.

  • A standard score in the below average range (below 85) for reading speed could be used as core evidence in a request for extra time.

  • A candidate with a standard score in the substantially below average range (below 70) for reading comprehension, may be eligible for the help of a Language Modifier.
