We use Hodder Education’s My Revision Notes for Pearson Edexcel GCSE (9–1): Catholic Christianity (Specification A). I think this revision guide really supports students in retrieval, practice exam answers and supporting their learning of a content-heavy specification. We use them mainly in Year 11, for independent study but also revision sessions in class during the summer term. During the 2020 lockdown, they really were a great support to students who had their own copies.

How do My Revision Notes consolidate students’ knowledge?
In year 11, students are issued homework from the revision guides. They also use them for revision in class to design ‘knowledge organisers’.

How do My Revision Notes build students’ exam skills?
We use the revision guides for end of unit assessments – students make notes on each section and answer exam questions. The differentiation in the revision guides is perfect for supporting lower-ability learners.

What do your students like about My Revision Notes?
In particular, they like the summary bullet points and the support with D-type questions. They also like the colourful pages!

Overall, why do you choose to use My Revision Notes?
Due to the nature of a content heavy curriculum, the revision guides support students in consolidating their knowledge. It also ensures that all the content is summarised in one book and students find it easier to make effective notes from the revision guides.
