Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need permission from my school/college to attend?

We do ask that you follow your own establishment’s guidelines relating to booking events. We take all bookings in goodwill and trust that any necessary authorisation has been agreed prior to making the booking with us.

All Teacher Training and Webinar bookings are treated as a confirmed order and with permission already having been established. All Student Conference bookings have the option to be booked on a provisional or confirmed basis. 

Please also check if your school requires us to quote a purchase order number against your booking.

Will I receive confirmation that I am booked onto an event?

Yes. You will receive confirmation of your booking by email within 24 hours whether provisional or confirmed. 24 hours later, you will receive an order number that you must quote when altering your booking.

All final joining details will then be emailed to the address provided approximately 2 weeks before the event takes place.

What do I do if a course I want to attend is full?

We do try to organise additional dates for courses that sell out. We also have a waiting list system available on the website and strongly recommend that you provide your details for this purpose, so that we can contact you should places or a new date become available.

How do provisional bookings on student conferences work – when do I confirm numbers attending?

We agree to hold these places for you until 21 days before the event and will ask you to confirm the numbers attending at this point. If you have not contacted us, or responded to our reminder emails, your places will become open again to other schools on a first come first served basis.

An invoice will be sent upon confirmation of final numbers attending. All final joining details will then be emailed to the address provided approximately 2 weeks before the event takes place.
Is lunch provided at student events?

Lunch is not provided on student conferences, we recommend you bring your own or source lunch from the local amenities.

Can I change my student booking?

Alterations to your booking can only be made up to 21 days before the event takes place. After this date the school will be liable for all the places booked so please ensure you are only confirming those that will definitely be attending.

IMPORTANT: We advise not to book transport until you receive the final joining details from us. Wasted travel costs will not be refunded.

When and how do I pay?

If you are registered as an institution with Hodder Education we will send an invoice directly to your finance department.  If you would like to pay by credit/debit card you will need to register a personal account at www.hoddereducation.co.uk.

We ask that you arrange payment for the event you are attending to reach us no later than 30 days before it takes place. In the instance of a late booking, payment is to be made within 30 days of the invoice date. We accept payments made by cheque, BACS, and credit/debit cards, including American Express. Bank details are printed on all invoices.

I have not received my invoice

Please check with your finance department as invoices are sent directly to them. If they have not received it you can request a copy invoice from events@hoddereducation.co.uk.

What is a Purchase Order number and how do I know if I need one?

Your finance department may issue you with a Purchase Order number which they require us to put on your invoice. Please check with your finance office as to whether they use these.

When will I receive my ticket/details for an event I am booked onto?
All final details are sent by email to the address provided at the time of booking, approximately two weeks before each event takes place. If you have not received the details by this time, please contact the Events Team on 01295 222777 or by email at events@hoddereducation.co.uk.

Please ensure that you provide an accurate email address to ensure these details reach you. We will not be responsible if the email is not passed on accordingly. 
I’m attending an event tomorrow but haven’t received my details – what do I do?

If you have lost or not received your final details please in the first instance check your ‘junk mail’ folder as these are sent via email to the email address supplied at the time of booking.

If you still do not have it please contact the Events Team on 01295 222777 or email us at events@hoddereducation.co.uk and we will forward the details to you immediately. Details of all events can also be found online.

What if my circumstances have changed and I have to cancel?

All cancellations must be made in writing to events@hoddereducation.co.uk. If you are cancelling either a Teacher or Student event, no charges are made if the cancellation is made more than 21 days before the event takes place. If you contact us within 21 days of the event date, cancellation charges will apply – please see our Terms and Conditions for details.

Webinars can be cancelled at no charge up to 15 days before they take place. For any cancellations made after 15 days, cancellation charges will apply – please see our Terms and Conditions for details.

Some more of my students want to attend and I’ve confirmed the booking – can I add them?

If there is availability on the event then we will be happy to arrange for more places to be booked for you. Simply call 01295 222777 or email the Events Team at events@hoddereducation.co.uk.

I am an individual student can I attend without my school?

Yes, we are more than happy for you to attend on your own. You will need to set up a personal account at www.hoddereducation.co.uk. You will be required to make payment at the time of booking.

Can I just turn up on the day of the event and pay?

Due to Health and Safety reasons, you cannot attend an event without advising us and making a booking. All places at our events are pre-booked and therefore we cannot accept payment at the venue. However, we can take bookings right up to the day before the event by telephone or on our website.

I have a question about the content – who can I ask?
We will be happy to help you make a more informed decision when booking an event and have direct contact with all our presenters, so if you do have any queries please contact the Events Team on 01295 222777 or email events@hoddereducation.co.uk.

I wish to provide some feedback for an event I attended – how do I do this?

A Hodder Education representative is present and available throughout all our events who you can talk to on the day. Please do refer any questions/concerns you have to that person in the first instance.

If they are unable to resolve the matter immediately then please convey your feedback via the forms provided on the day or directly to us as per the above contact information within 28 days of the event and give us sufficient time to investigate fully. We welcome and appreciate any feedback as this helps us to keep providing quality events.

Can I buy the notes booklet from an event after it’s happened?

The notes from our events can only be given out to those attending the course. As these notes remain the intellectual property of the speakers, we will not be able to sell them outside of the event itself. 

Can I download materials after the event?

All the materials used on the day remain the intellectual copyright of the speakers. If the speakers have given permission for additional downloadable content to be made available this will be marked clearly on the notes booklet you receive at the event.

The materials in this instance are available to download only for 1 month after the event so you must make sure to follow the instructions in the booklet as soon as possible.
