  • Build a clear understanding of the StoryTelling Schools method – which is being used across the UK and internationally - and explore what the next steps are for your centre to be become a ‘StoryTelling School’
  • Explore how embedding storytelling into all lessons can have a powerful effect across the curriculum and promote effective approaches to writing
  • Focus on the role of oracy and how to teach students to gain confidence and fluency in recounting stories leading to structured writing
  • Explore how vocabulary and comprehension can be strengt
  • hened and deepened through the creative arts: poetry, song, art and drama
Did you know…
  • The University of Winchester’s conducted an evaluation report for Storytelling Schools’ pilot project in Mayflower School, Tower Hamlets - the approach was found to be very effective for children with EAL and those in receipt of FSM; children in these groups made at least expected progress in writing with two thirds exceeding expectations. 87% of children with EAL achieved Level 4 or above in writing, 5% above the national average.
  • The StoryTelling Schools approach is in practice in over 200 schools in the UK and internationally
