eduu.school pilot

Rising to the Covid challenge for disadvantaged learners

As schools hurried to deliver remote learning during the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, three teams of education and Edtech specialists came together to develop an online learning platform that would meet the needs of disadvantaged students in danger of being left behind.

The eduu.school pilot took place over summer 2020 and focused on Year 10 students in the West Midlands. The aim was to provide high quality online learning that reconnected learners and responded to the mental health needs of disengaged students.

  • Nearly 2,000 students from 14 academies and 1 special school registered for the pilot
  • Almost 6,000 site accesses and 398 quiz responses were recorded
  • Daily lessons in 8 subjects were led by 20 teachers
  • Over 300 hours of recorded lessons were posted, with 30 hours of online learning available weekly
  • Over 1,000 hours of free therapy support were made available via Tools for Coping
