Events Safety

Our COVID-secure action plan

Updated Wednesday, 9th February 2022

Hodder Education are slowly reintroducing in-venue events and we are constantly reviewing how we can run our workshops and conferences safely, to maximise the safety of teachers and speakers and to ensure we do not contribute to the spread of the virus.

Whilst we are more than happy to openly discuss the details of our COVID-secure action plan in more depth, we have provided a quick 20-point action plan below which illustrates our approach.

All about you

  • Whilst wearing face masks is no longer mandatory our venues we do encourage the use of face masks in the public areas.

  • If you display any of the COVID-19 symptoms (e.g. new persistent cough, high temperature, loss or change to sense of smell or taste), you must not attend the training session. We will provide a free transfer to a future course.

  • You do not have to provide proof of vaccination nor proof of a negative test, however we do encourage everyone to take a LFT test 24 hours before the training session.

About our course notes and representatives

  • We will be reducing the number of Hodder Education representatives who manage our events and asking venues to have smart shift rotations in place to avoid unnecessary team exposure.

  • The course notes and materials will be pre-packed in a COVID-secure print room before the event takes place and placed on desks, instead of handed out.

  • Instead of signing a register when you enter the meeting, we will ask you to scan a QR code on arrival to check in.

  • We will ensure that all of our events have staggered start, break, lunch and end times to avoid groups mixing. We will also be working closely with the venues to ensure we avoid groups from other companies.

  • We will be suppling Hodder Education representatives with a face covering, plus speakers and teachers can request PPE from the venues (if required).

  • The number of teachers allowed to attend one of our events will be reduced to ensure that we can maintain physical distancing guidelines. Room layouts will be adapted, and unused tables/chairs will be removed to increase space.

The venues that host our events will:

  • Install foot pump operated sanitising stations at key contact points, including at the entrance, outside the lifts and outside all meetings rooms.

  • Sanitise all equipment before each event, i.e TV’s & remote, whiteboard, touch points, desks.

  • Provide new note pads and pens every day, along with fresh room stationary e.g white board markers.

  • All meeting rooms will be fogged between each separate meeting overnight.

  • Display signage across the building to gently remind people about social distancing.

  • Have been audited by Navitas (formerly the European Safety Bureau) under the COVID Controlled Certification Scheme.

  • Ask all staff to perform lateral flow tests twice weekly and where a face covering, unless medically exempt.

  • Provide regular virus prevention and control training for all staff members.

  • Employ Cleanology - a well respected cleaning specialists - to ensure that regular, deep cleaning happens throughout the day (including coffee stations and bathrooms).

  • Provide walking/cycling routes along with secure bike storage facilities will be shared with teachers, once the venue has been confirmed.

  • Serve a hot buffet lunch, however the contact points will be heavily reduced.

Please note: We invoice for events after they take place, so you don’t need to worry about upfront payments or refunds. Book your place on our workshop today and if we have to run it as a webinar, due to safety requirements, we can provide you with a webinar log-in and access information.
