Explore east London from Docklands to Olympic Park and thoroughly prepare yourself to teach fieldwork and data skills in the ‘Changing Places’ core elements of the new Geography A-levels; discuss the theory and gain ideas of how to replicate this fun and engaging day with your students.
  • Learn qualitative as well as quantitative fieldwork skills
  • Consider the opportunities for the NEA (the Independent Investigation) through fieldwork and content in ‘Changing Places’
All delegates to bring packed lunch and wear suitable clothing as much of the day will be spent outside.

  • Developing qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques
11.20am Morning coffee
Fieldwork in east London
  • A walkabout around Stratford and the Olympic Park
  • A chance for teachers to collect and record field data using quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Using smartphones and apps in the field
This will include a 30-minute break for lunch (not provided)
2.30pm Return to venue for afternoon tea
Processing and analysing field data
  • Using appropriate quantitative techniques for analysing AS and A-level fieldwork
  • Learning techniques for analysing qualitative data collection
  • Reviewing the demands of the NEA (Independent Investigation)
3.50pm Review and reflect
4.00pm Course ends
