Summary:
This textbook has been written specifically to meet the needs of AS students following the AQA specification. It is comprehensive, easily accessible and exam focused.

The theoretical part of the course (Unit 1) is divided into three components and these are covered in detail. Each chapter has the following special features:

  • learning objectives
  • definitions of key terms
  • tips for exam success
  • activities relating theory to practice
  • 'Practice makes perfect' -- exam-style questions with answers to check progress
  • extension material

Unit 2 examines practical application. Guidance on the planning and structure of this aspect of the course is provided at the end of the book.

The authors have been especially careful throughout to emphasise the link between theoretical concept and practical performance -- an essential feature of exam success in PE -- by including numerous sporting examples.

An accompanying online resource offers advice on exam technique and presents a mock exam paper with graded answers.
