About the Author(s): Steve Davies is Head of English at South Wilts Girls Grammar and an Assistant Principal Examiner for GCSE English. He was closely involved in the development of the new 2010 specifications, and is one of the English 2010 Subject Advisers. A moderator team leader and coursework adviser of many years' standing, he continues to guide and support English teachers at regional meetings.
