Close Reading 7-9 provides a wide selection of extracts with accompanying interpretation/comprehension-type questions, and is appropriate for pupils working at Levels B/C in Scotland (Level 2 in England/Wales and Northern Ireland). In addition, the 'Taking A Closer Look' section in each chapter focuses on a specific language feature from the passage and provides further explanations and practice exercises on that aspect of language, whilst a 'Follow On' section gives the opportunity to explore wider issues raised by the extract, plus ideas for extended writing. Also available: Close Reading 7-9 Answer Book and Copiable Test Forms contains a collection of full answers and marking schemes for the comprehension activities offered in the book. The answer book also contains photocopiable Test Forms of the questions in re-designed format, with space for answers to be written beneath each question. These forms can be used in conjunction with the Pupil Book as practice for formal or national reading assessments.
