Summary:
The Edexcel Chemistry for AS Network CD-ROM which accompanies the Student's Book and CD-ROM provides a complete bank of resources for teachers and technicians following the Edexcel specification. Powered by Dynamic Learning, the Network CD-ROM contains the same interactive pages as the Student’s  CD-ROM  plus every resource that teachers might wish to use in activities, discussions, practical work and assessment.

These additional resources on the Network CD-ROM include:
· A Synopsis for each of the 19 topics, showing how the text and resources cover and follow the Edexcel specification including coverage of  'How Science Works'. These synopses also indicate how the resources on the Network CD-ROM can be used to create a teaching programme and lesson plans

· Introductory PowerPoints for each topic
· Practical and investigation worksheets for students to cover the entire course 

· Teacher’s and technician’s notes for all practicals and investigations showing the intensions of each practical, a suggested approach to it, health and safety considerations, the materials and apparatus required by each group and the answers to the questions on the worksheets

· Multimedia animations or visualisations

· Video interviews with chemists, focusing on how they use chemistry in their work

· Additional activities involving data analysis, application and evaluation

· Answers to all Review questions, Extension questions and questions in the Additional Activities on the Network CD-ROM

· Rotatable models to help students appreciate the structure and three-dimensional shape of molecules and crystals

· Tutorials specifically designed to guide students through sample exam questions and offer helpful tips

All the resources are launched from interactive pages of the Student's Book on the CD-ROM. Teachers can also search for resources by resource type or key words to allow greater flexibility in using the resources. A Lesson Builder allows teachers to build lessons by dragging and dropping resources they want to use into a lesson group that can be saved to launch later from a single screen. The tools provided also enable teachers to import their own resources and weblinks into the lesson groups, and to populate a VLE at the click of a button.

About the Author(s):
Graham Hill is author of a bestselling A level chemistry textbook and numerous GCSE Chemistry and dual award textbooks. Graham taught for over 30 years and held various appointments as Head of Chemistry and Head of Science. During his teaching career, Graham held secondments as Senior Fellow to the Salter’s project at the University of York and as Chairman of the ASE. Andrew Hunt is an experienced teacher, examiner and author. He has taken a leading role in the Nuffield Chemistry, Twenty First Century Science and Science in Society projects. He taught advanced chemistry courses in schools for 20 years and has written a variety of successful chemistry textbooks including an AS and A2 textbook/CD-ROM series.
