Welcome to the e-resources page for Introductory Scots Law: Theory and Practice 2nd Edition.
We have included a range of legal documents which have been arranged according to the textbook’s Chapter numbers here. These resources are signposted throughout the book and will, hopefully, enhance the learning experience for students and general readers of the text.
Answers to all Test your knowledge questions within the textbook are also available to download. A new set of answers to the Chapter 7 questions has been made necessary by recent legislation, and these amended answers (June 2011) are available to download now.
The authors have attempted to state the law as accurately as possible until 1 February 2010. From time to time, we will also offer an updates service for the book on this page. Our first update is on the Equality Act 2010, which is available to download now. The 2nd Update (April 2011) is also on the Equality Act, and is available to download now. The third update (July 2011) covers general changes to Scots Law, and is available to download now.
We would remind readers that this book is a general legal textbook and it is no substitute for expert legal advice. The authors cannot possibly set out every single possible legal scenario which might be relevant to a particular dispute or case. Anyone thinking of contemplating legal action in Scotland should, therefore, consult a suitably qualified Scottish solicitor before embarking on such a course. It is worth reminding readers that laws can change very quickly and it is always sensible to take advice as to the current legal position.
