How has the Edexcel A specification changed?

  • Each unit now comprises four sections rather than five
  • The assessment objectives have led to some content changes:
    - knowledge at 10% is assessed only by the key words
    - understanding at 40% remains the same
    - personal and evaluation have been increased to 50% matching the AT1 and AT2 of KS 1–3
  • There is no coursework, just written exams
  • Candidates study one unit for the short course and two units for the full course
  • The full course now fits the Key Stage 4 Citizenship and PSHEE requirements much more fully
