December 2011

We've published two new digital products this Autumn – one for PSHE and one for Citizenship ...

Our digital resource for PSHE Education KS4 has now published! So sign up for your free trial here. This subscription website brings the student's book to life, with:
  • audio that supports the text
  • interactive quizzes to engage students
  • PowerPoint presentations to use in class
  • worksheets that students can download and use to complete activities from the student's book

Take a look at some sample material here:

Open sample presentation: Chapter 2: from the Drugs chapter: What's the risk?

View sample activity from Chapter 3: Health and wellbeing; Topic: Work-life balance: Quiz 3.1 It's such a hassle!

The Dynamic Learning platform gives you the ability to mix and match the resources within the product, as well as adding in your own resources, to create a lesson full of resources ready for you to use in class.

Our digital resource to accompany our OCR GCSE Citizenship Studies course will be published at the end of the month. It is written by examiner and teacher Alison Bradley. Sign up for your free trial here.

This subscription website provides pre-prepared activities combined into 28 coherent lesson sequences to cover all the key topics of the specification. Each topic also has a Digging deeper lesson to support potentially controversial and complex issues. These lessons contain engaging digital resources for display on the whiteboard in front of the whole class, or for student use on individual computers.

My Revision Notes
We've also got some revision books which will be out early next year to help students with their exams. Order your inspection copy now!

Written by experienced teachers and examiners, My Revision Notes will support your students every step of the way. Each title helps you to:
  • revise effectively in the way you want to plan and pace your revision
  • test your understanding of each topic until you're sure you fully understand it
  • practise for better grades with exam questions and sample answers

PSHE Education resources survey

We're currently doing some research into PSHE Education resources and how you use them in your lessons:

  • What resources do you use and what do you think of them?
  • Is there anything you would like to see that isn't currently available?
  • Which PSHE Education topics do you need most support with?

If you can help with these questions, please get in touch citizenshipnest@hodder.co.uk

July 2011

PSHE Association Conference

We attended the PSHE Association Conference on 23 June, and really enjoyed meeting lots of PSHE co-ordinators and teachers. There was a lot of interest in our ne PSHE Education course for KS4 and help with our market research for future projects. If you would like to help us find out more about your needs for PSHE Education, please contact us at citizenshipnest@hodder.co.uk. The conference was all about the impact of PSHE on young people.

Association of Citizenship Teachers Conference

We also went to the ACT Conference on 27 June. It was good to hear from Liz Moorse with an update on Citizenship and the curriculum review - with an emphasis on the fact that the government has not yet made any firm decisions on what subjects will be included in the National Curriculum. We won't find out until January 2012 when there will also be a further call for evidence. Pete Pattisson gave an inspiring presentation about his citizenship teaching using video, you can find his ideas in his blog at www.mrpattisson.wordpress.com. At our stand we had a lot of interest in our Key Stage 3 Citizenship course This is Citizenship and again we had help with our market research - please contact us if you would like to help us find out more about your needs for Citizenship Education at citizenshipnest@hodder.co.uk

Meanwhile on the Citizenship & PSHE Nest

Ade Sofola from Think Global is our guest blogger for July. She'll be blogging about global issues relating to Citizenship and PSHE topics. Read her blog here.
