The fascinating story of Michel Thomas, who was awarded the Silver Star medal for Gallantry in Action during the Second World War by the US Congress is 2004.  Michel Thomas defied the Gestapo, survived French labour camps and worked in counter-intelligence with the US 7th Army before becoming a world-famous language teacher.
